One FAQ from my massage therapy clients of 16 years is: “…what products do you use?”
This is a rich question!
To use a product on my clients, my loved ones or myself, I absolutely must believe in the ingredients (source and quality), fair trade and ethics to farmers and harvesters of plants used and sustainability of ingredients and materials used to pack and post. Choosing the best also means investing in paying a higher price but quality is something I won't compromise on, as therapeutic effects are so much greater and less product is needed.
Since first qualifying as a Massage Therapist in 2004 in Dublin, Ireland, I have worked in sport, clinic, spa and retreat settings and worked with many products. Some I have loved while others were more functional and easily forgotten. By now I have some firm favourites that I can recommend for self care at home between appointments.
I have a preference to support small businesses and female entrepreneurs, one of which is YOGANDHA which I was introduced to in my time practicing at Triyoga Camden, London.
I like to give my clients an option. Some prefer a balm vs. an oil. In Sports Massage some athletes like essential oils of camphor, ginger and peppermint, while for Pregnancy Massage and Oncology Massage treatments, no essential oil or a very gentle rose or chamomile essential oil is often preferred. A few clients have even brought their own oil blends to clinic that consider their specific skin sensitivities/allergies.
YOGANDHA body oils feel super lightweight on the skin leaving no residue and smell dreamy and divine!!
There are 3 different blends to suit different symptoms, moods and seasons; are made using 100% naturally derived non-chemical ingredients; vegan; handmade in Ireland - my home land :); not tested on animals; all packaging is post-recycled or recycle-able and admirably 5% of profits go to a charity called Women for Women International.
Oils can be used at home, massaging on skin and soles of feet after a bath/shower and on neck and pulse points on wrists and temples assisting the body and nervous system to relax, unwind, refresh.
MUSCLE SOOTHE is a warm, spicy, woody blend that feels comforting and earthy. Essential oils of warming Ginger, grounding Petitgrain, soothing, stress relieving Marjoram and vitality boosting Cedarwood make this super for recovery massage for tired, tense, fatigued, aching muscles and mind.
DETOX blend feels citrusy, positive and clean and features uplifting and cleansing Lemongrass, purifying and grounding Juniper Berry, skin nourishing Vitamin E and Sweet Fennel with properties to enhance digestive function, metabolism and blood circulation helping to remove toxins, waste products and clear energy channels.
RELAX blend with essential oils of Lavender, Vetiver, Frankincense & Blue Chamomile is rich, deep and exotic. It is wonderful in evening time, after a bath, before bed, if feeling jet lagged, to calm anxiety, worry, a busy mind by promoting deep relaxation, stillness and sleep.
